Looking for a great hot dog chili sauce? Well, look no further! Mama's got a great recipe for chili dogs that you're gonna love!
If you love tailgating, you can make this chili up ahead of time and heat it up in a small pan on the grill while you cook your hamburgers and hot dogs. By the way, it's great on hamburgers too!
Here's what you're gonna need:
2 packages of Hebrew National Jumbo All Beef Franks (there's 4 in a package)
1 package of hot dog buns
For the Chili:
1 pound of ground chuck
1/3 cup of sweet onion, finely chopped
1 six-ounce can of tomato paste
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of yellow mustard
2 teaspoons of chili powder
2 teaspoons of Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of celery seed
1 teaspoon of cumin
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
Let's get started.
In a large pan, brown the hamburger well (until all of the liquid is gone)
Add the chopped onion.
Add all of the remaining ingredients.
Simmer uncovered for 30 to 45 minutes until it thickens, stirring occasionally. Cover and let sit until your hot dogs are done.
Cook your hot dogs on the grill or a grill pan on the stove. (I used my
All-Clad LTD Nonstick Grande Grill Pan
) or you could get you one of those
portable grills
if you're going to a park or the lake.
Add a little shredded cheese for a great chili cheese dog!
