Let me give you a few tips for planning and preparing easy appetizer recipes that will be the hit of your next party.
How much should you prepare? * If you're planning to have a meal shortly after the appetizers, you'll need four to five appetizers per person. * If planning to have a meal later, you'll need six to seven appetizers per person.
* If you're just having appetizers, plan on having at least eight to nine appetizers per person depending upon how long your guests will be staying.
|
* Do as much as you can a day in advance. Chop anything that can be chopped ahead of time and place it in plastic bags or containers in the refrigerator.
* Many dips taste better if made the day before serving so don't hesitate to make that dip a day ahead of time and let those flavors marry together to make your dip even more amazing!
* You don't have to have fancy serving platters. Use cutting boards, cookie sheet pans, mirrors or even checker or backgammon boards!
* Divide the appetizers among several platters so your guests can try a variety of appetizers from wherever they are seated.
* If you are short on space, stack cake stands on top of one another to make a tiered serving stand!
* Serve appetizers and dips in bowl made out of hollowed cabbage; bread; green, red, or yellow bell peppers; pineapple or melons. * Appetizers should be small enough to be eaten in one bite. * Garnish your serving trays with a green leafy lettuce, herbs or citrus wheels. * Have several of the same dishes in different locations. |
* Serve cold foods like vegetables, shrimp and cubed cheese on ice. * Have fresh trays of appetizers ready so you can just swap them out. * Have all of your guests dishware, glasses, napkins and utensils on a single table and put it out ahead of time so you won't be scrambling at the last minute.
