A lot of folks say it's a lot like Cracker Barrel's Hashbrown Casserole Recipe only better! It's ooey, gooey, cheesy goodness!
For a special treat, add 1/2 pound cooked and crumbled bacon, sausage or diced ham!
Here's what you are going to need:
1 bag (2 pounds) frozen hash browns, thawed
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 cup of milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 cups of shredded Colby jack cheese
Here's what you need t do:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Spray a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, diced onions, melted butter, sour cream, milk, salt, pepper and 2 cups of the shredded cheese.
Mix well.
Add the shredded cheese.
Mix well.
Add the thawed hash browns.
Mix well.
Pour into the prepared 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheese.
Bake in the preheated 375° F oven for 1 hour until hot and bubbly and it begins to brown on top. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes before serving.
This hash brown casserole recipe is a great recipe to play with. You can add bacon, ham or even hot dogs. Use different types of cheese or even add some vegetables. Be creative and have fun with it!
